Although iWeb is great software to quickly publish a website, it has a few disadvantages. The one that bothers me most is that Google’s robots are unable to follow the links in the iWeb menu section and cannot index the site.
The workaround for this is to add a sitemap to your website and iMap is just the tool for that. Of course you can manually code your sitemap but for the €8 it’s hardly worth the while.
iMap also takes care of another iWeb shortcoming: it allows you to add meta tags to your site. Operation is straightforward: publish your site, point iMap to the folder and enter your meta tag keywords. Hit the Create button and iMap will generate the sitemap.xml file, inserts the meta tags and notifies Google that your site has been updated.
